Edward VI Room
Rich interiors and a kingly bed to rest your head
In 1552, Hursley was surrendered to the Crown which was at that time was on the head of Edward VI, the son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. Crowned King in 1547 at the tender age of 9, Edward VI only reigned for 15 years under the guidance of many friends and foes in an England marked by social unrest, riot and rebellion. It was during his reign that Protestantism was introduced to England for the first time following the dissolution of the monasteries by his father, a legacy that was eventually carried on by his half sister Queen Elizabeth and helped shape the England we know today. Characterized by soft throws and regal hues, we’re sure the King would have found a restful escape from stressful court life in the Edward VI room.
