The Spitfire Suite

The Spitfire Suite
A great suite for a great British icon

Hurlsey is very proud to have played host to the Vickers Aviation design team during Second World War, makers of the renowned Spitfire fighter plane. In 1940, the team were bombed out of their Southampton location and relocated to Hursley House which become the control centre of the Spitfire programme for the duration of the war. They produced over 85,000 aircraft spread over 65 different sites across the south coast. The Supermarine design office continued at Hursley House post-war until 1957, by which point the Spitfire had become an icon of British aviation and a symbol of the great British spirit. With plenty of quirks and it’s own private entrance and sitting room, the Spitfire Suite is brimming with great British character.
